A winter beer festival proved so popular that organisers are considering adding summer events to their calendar. The second annual beer festival at The Black Lion pub, at Consall Forge, took place over the weekend, attracting dozens of people. Pub-goers were treated to 24 different beers and a selection of 10 ciders, a hog roast and music from an Irish band. Many of them also tied the beer festival in with a trip to Churnet Valley Railway's Winter Steam Gala. Jason Purcell, the 39-year-old manager of The Black Lion, who lives at the pub, said: "I would like to thank everyone who came along. "Friday was okay and Saturday was absolutely brilliant. "We have only ever done a beer festival in the winter before, but if all goes well we would now like to try them in the summer too." Pictured is barmaid Hayley Roe during the event.
